User experience lover & data-driven designer

I began cultivating my creative approach to life at an early age. At age 6, I was playing clarinet, at age 12, guitar. As a teenager, I was the BMOC of tuba at New England Music Camp, playing in orchestras, then recording music for my own band. After moving from my home state of Maine to Boston in the 90's, I became a successful kitchen chef during college, and began delighting the palettes of diners at the Seasons Restaurant of the Bostonian Hotel, Legal Seafoods, and Geoffrey's Cafe. My design career began in 1998. An ambitious self-starter, I began with print, moved on to web production and worked my way into a hybrid design career, finally opening my own business in 2008. Running my design shop, The Hype Lab provided me with critical insight into the full process, from initial sales pitch to delivery of final product.

Design is NOT about ego or being some prima donna. It's about stripping out all the trendy bullshit and creating an easy to use, scannable experience for users.

I have some ecstatic clients and created beautiful and functional web sites, digital products and brands for them. I thrive when juggling multiple projects and mentoring younger designers. I have built teams and partnerships to bring the best talent and creative solutions to each of my clients. I am passionate and enthusiastic about creating high quality work that is standards-compliant and bullet-proof down to the finest detail.

It's not dead.... yet

Print design is still a very strong medium for the right customer. Newsletters, direct mail, advertising etc... all continue to be viable marketing channels especially when integrated with online marketing.
